I came to the Real Estate profession with several years of related experience, beginning as the Executive Officer of the Delta County Board of Realtors. From that platform I moved to City and County Government, working mostly in land use planning. I have also worked in real estate as a personal assistant. After receiving my real estate license in 2007 I worked with a team of other brokers until I recently decided to become an independent agent and put my expertise to the best use.
Eleven days after becoming licensed I earned the Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation, a training specifically targeted at the needs and strengths of seniors. As the daughter of an aging father, senior issues are in the forefront and it is important to me that senior citizens are provided with accurate information and are treated with respect and understanding.
In May of 2009 I received the Certified Distressed Property Expert designation. This particular course provided intense training in short sales, foreclosures and current market conditions. In September of 2009 I completed training as an Eco Broker, another nationally recognized designation. This designation concentrates on environmental issues as well as sustainability, which are of particular interest to me. My husband and I recently built our "papercrete" home between Hotchkiss and Delta. This thermal block home is made from recycled paper and concrete slurry, formed and dried much like adobe. Our one foot thick walls provide excellent insulation in summer and winter. We have in-floor heat, a Marathon water heater and many other sustainable amenities. We are wired for solar and a possible wind turbine as soon as time and budget allow.
In 2008, the Delta County Board of Realtors honored me as the "Rookie Realtor of the Year" and I was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Realtors that year. Currently I am a Director of the Board. I am a Rotarian and am currently the President of the Delta Rotary Club. I love to sing, dance, write, grow organic produce and being the best possible "grammy."
Why would you choose me as your Realtor? I work with people, not numbers, and I strive to build strong relationships. Whether you are selling your home or looking for a new home, your needs are important to me, and the rewards I receive go far beyond creating an income. The best rewards I receive come from doing an excellent job for you. As an added plus, I come complete with a positive attitude and a good sense of humor. We can actually have fun working together!
